Community Conversation on Racial Profiling

This will be a safe and supportive meeting to
1) Face the Truth of racial profiling in
2) learn about a national campaign against racial, ethnic and religious
profiling.
VOP is joining with grassroots groups across the nation and with the Rights
Working Group (www.rightsworkinggroup.org
FACE THE TRUTH: A National Campaign Against Racial and
Religious Profiling
Racial, ethnic and religious profiling are
- humiliating and degrading for the people subjected to them;
- unconstitutional and unfair;
- ineffective law enforcement practices; and
- harmful to community security.
Some people avoid leaving the house or driving.
delays in their legitimate daily business. Some experience intrusive searches or
even arrest, deportation, or imprisonment.
One way or another, racial, ethnic and religious profiling are part of the daily
lives of millions of people across our nation. And we all
law enforcement and for our decreased safety.
After we talk to each other about what we experience in our community, we will
learn more about the national campaign, and how as Virginians we have a special
role to play.
