Bring your brown bag lunch and join us in the Arboretum Pavilion for a series of garden lectures on Wednesday afternoons from 12 noon until 1:00 beginning June 18, continuing June 25, July 9, 16, 23, and concluding July 30. The lectures series is free, seating is provided, and advance registration is not needed. You’ll enjoy learning from these professionals:

June 18 - ALL ABOUT DAHLIAS

Al Minutolo, Master Gardener, will highlight the particulars of how to plant and grow, prune and even store to over-winter these colorful garden favorites.

June 25 – INVESTING IN THE GROUND BENEATH YOUR FEET

Sam Harris, Landscape Designer, explains how you can evolve your garden’s design as you build to enrich

its soil so that you can grow even more eye-catching and abundantly-flowering annuals and perennials.

July 9 - COLOR YOUR WORLD LAVENDER

Deirdre Armstrong of Harvest Time Herbs, will discuss how to use lavender’s old-world charm for decorative and aromatic uses indoors. She’ll also present techniques for growing and pruning lavender for greater outdoor garden beauty and harvesting.

July 16 – MORE THAN JUST A PRETTY FACE

Jan Sievers Mahon, Arboretum Director, will present a talk on the gifts our plants and flowers offer beside beauty, including the medicinal uses of common, everyday plants. Your garden could be your personal wellness center!

Lenna Frances Keefer, accomplished botanical illustrator, naturalist, herbalist and educator will share some simple techniques and tools used in botanical illustrating. A brief lecture will be followed with a simple outdoor sketch session. Bring your sketch pad and a pencil. No previous art experience is needed.
